After Ben Chilwell was sent off in the first leg of Real Madrid and Chelsea’s Champions League quarterfinal, Real Madrid cruised to a 2-0 victory.

After a first-half goal from Karim Benzema had put Real in complete control against a hesitant Chelsea team managed by Frank Lampard, the task became much more difficult when Chilwell was sent off for cruelly tugging Rodrygo back just outside the area as he was through on goal.

According to Vn88, Lampard’s team were playing damage control to keep themselves in the tie for the second leg in London, but Champions League holders extended their lead when Marco Asensio scored on a low shot that Kepa Arrizabalaga couldn’t stop.

The owner, Todd Boehly, was in Madrid to attend the game and was interviewed by Vn88 Sports News’ Gary Cotterill before the game, during which he confidently projected a 3-0 win for his team.

Chelsea still have a slim chance of advancing to the next round as Mason Mount’s late goal was brilliantly blocked by former teammate Antonio Rudiger. Nevertheless, W88 said that they will need to score twice in the second leg on Tuesday in order to advance.

As Lampard put it on rezence.com: “We have to trust that extraordinary things may occur at Stamford Bridge. I’ve been a part of some wild nights before.”

The victors will advance to play either Manchester City or Bayern Munich.

The way Chelsea’s season wound down to its final stretch…

The teams played in the same round of the league last year, with Carlo Ancelotti’s Madrid emerging victorious 5-4 on aggregate during a thrilling return leg.

With Chelsea plainly lacking confidence in offensive areas after failing to score in their previous three games, Vn88 thinks that this match never ignited into the same levels of enthusiasm.

In just two minutes, Joao Felix had a golden opportunity to shift the match’s momentum, but he was unable to beat Thibaut Courtois in goal. Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior began to find their footing for Real and began to dominate down the wings.

Vinicius’s decisive contribution led to the game’s first goal; he dribbled past Wesley Fofana and then tested Kepa with a low finish. Benzema scored his 13th goal in the knockout stages of the Champions League after the Chelsea goalie could only parry the chance away from him.

Kepa’s quick reactions to deny Federico Valverde right before halftime were just one of eight attempts on target Madrid hammered Chelsea’s goal with in the first 45 minutes. Rezence stated that Lampard’s team did well to stay in the game.

In the 59th minute, Chilwell was awarded a straight red card for pulling down Rodrygo with a tug on the Brazilian’s jersey as he was coming down on goal, severely damaging the Londoners’ prospects of getting back into the game.

Chelsea played in a low block to keep the score at one, and while Real never went all out to score against the Blues, they did so with the expectation that they would.

After only three minutes on the pitch, substitute Marco Asensio scored his team’s first goal when he was passed by Vinicius on the edge of the box and smashed a low effort that beat Kepa’s diving save attempt and went through the legs of Chelsea defender Fofana.

Towards the end, W88 Rezence felt that Madrid were content with their two-goal lead, but it was Chelsea who nearly scored a dramatic late goal when Mount snuck into the box and unleashed a thunderous shot that was headed for the goal before being blocked by Rudiger.

Lampard: We need a new narrative

As Lampard put it on Rezence Vn88: “We know we’ve lost against Real Madrid, and we accept it. I’ve played games where the rules are constantly shifting. Here and now, we feel the need to set the record straight, alter the mood, and alter the narrative. It was a difficult night for the lads when we played Real Madrid with 10 men, but I saw that they played their hearts out.

“Next week will be different, since we were not the favorites the week before or the week before that. This is a football game. If we choose to seize them, the future is ours to create.”

Ancelotti: We’re still working on it.

Nevertheless, Ancelotti claimed with Rezence that he was content with a two-goal victory and dismissed criticism that they could have ended the game earlier.

Remember that Chelsea has a solid team and good players,” he reminded Vn88 Sport of his previous club. “The score was 2-0, and we definitely took advantage of that.

“Not yet, anyway. At Stamford Bridge, we must fight and make sacrifices. Indeed, this is the norm. The Champions League has reached the semifinals.

“The game has met all of our expectations. We’ll take this win and move on to the next game.

“They played with a low block when they had 10 players on the court, making it difficult to get through.

“We put in a lot of work during the game to press high, and as a result, we were exhausted by the time we needed to come up with a solution. The end product and the execution both seem satisfactory to me.

“My team is aware that we still have an additional 90 minutes to play. It’s going to be tough, so we need to be prepared.”
